05.07.2013. message from my friend

I got a message from my friend, Hyewon, who is living in Tokyo in Japan. She told me she seemed to fall into a kind of slump. She said me what she has felt recently but it was not concerned for me as only her concern. It was my concern as well.  Actually, we left Korea at the almost same time. She went to Japan and I came to America. At that time, we were not in young age to start new life leaving home country, though we had competence of attaining our dream, our goal to be a professional in each area. However, in spite of having been here, the new country, for almost one year, our goal is not likely to be achieved at all and . rather, we have felt only limit of our ability. That's why she sent me such message through which appeals she needs a way of being able to overcome this slump. And It was just one sentence but I could understand what she really bear in her mind. Like I said so far there was no other reason.  It was only possible because I have been through a such thing like her.Anyway after then I replied her with all my heart not by giving any advice to urge her but by delivering my trust in her. The thing I really wanted to say her, no actually myself, was it would take times somehow or more than we expected. It is really a kind of impossibility to know when it comes true. But,instead, it is certain that we are going to be the one who really wanted to be someday after enough time passes by. As long as we walk on the way sincerely and unless we give up the way, we would see the day we longed for and meet ourselves who grow up enough to accept ourselves and our life.

2013.05. 06 daily diary

 “ 장가갈수있을까” song by “커피소년”

One of my best friends Yuna was proposed from her boyfriend last Sunday when it was her birthday,too. I watched the video that contains the scene he proposed her. She was sitting on bench and in front of her he was haning one board written in “free hug” and had sang this song sincerely for her. Yuna’s friend posted the vedio recoding the propose on the facebook right after. Thank to the advanced communication technique, I could not miss the beautiful moment my friends was proposed. The song her boyfriend sing to her has still remained in my mind and is rarely likely to fly away for a while. Actually, this song has the story about a kind of confess of one man who is worrying about not marrying yet. He repeats the lylics “장가갈수 있을까” which means “can I marry?” “It is so difficult to meet somebody to live together.” His sincere confess in the song really touchs me.  The song is so addictive that it makes people sing after the song. Also, while I was watching the vedio, it reminded me of my propose day. I recalled the day I was proposed. At the moment I seemed to be a little bit embarassed because I was surrounded by many friends and I didn’t spot at all that he had prepared for the propose with his friend from almost one month before until he started palying piano. I recall the day I was so happy and thankful to him because of the fact that he ,my loved one, prepared for all of those for me. We are living in numerous discontinuing concerns coming from not only marrage stuff but also all courses we should pass through during our lives. Usually most of them we had struggled turn out that it was not a big deal, but before we experience or go through, it is rarely likely to realize that. Anyway, my friends including me have crossed one bridge, which named “marrage” in order. Some had crossed over earlier than me. Some still remain behind me. But oneday, we all will realize that we all did it. I send my applaud to my lovely friends who finally climbed the mountain.   

2012.04.22 The helpless put their trust in you

The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans...(omitted)...Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comport them. _ Paslms 10:14,17

Lord, you know me and my family's situation where we are in. I am in trouble. There is no the entrance I came in any more and nor can I find the door through which I was supposed to go out. I have thought it as a light burden as if I can put it down in a short while. I feel helpless. I don't know where to go. The day and time I am looking for over my current situation is unlikely to come to me. Oh, Lord, let me have a courage and let me look the hope through today. "The helpless one put my trust in you." Aren't you the God who cares about your people who are standing firm toward you? The meaningful life which I've  really longed for. I believe you will allow me to enjoy the life. Over the today, perhaps in today it will be made here on me. Let me be aware of your mind and your plan.   

2013.04.20 psalm

I start reading psalms from today. I hope to have the mind as David followed you sincerely and I want to love you as David did. I want to be the one who really loves you and praises you for my lifetime. Please walk with me on every step I go and be my God who leads me to your way of good and truth. I will sing for you forever. a great deal of thanks and joy is overflowing in everything I do.

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgement. Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

2013.04.15 sufferings

Recently I heve seen what people are not willing to experience happened. Child of one friend was injured during the gymnastic class so he had to had his brain operated  and one of my friend heard his mother died. Everything happens around me mekes me sad. Reading the bible, book of Job, I had the question in my mind. Why? AlthoughI have asked for the God why the kind of suffering should happen a lot, today I ask him why again. All have been good and integirity to the God. Therefore, it is nonsense to tell it happened beacuse of their sins. Then, come to the place where it was again. why? To be tested whether or not they have true integrity regardless of what they have. Maybe. Because the God wants blameless glory and pure obidence, he could have allowed satan to test them like Job. But, it also seems to have little possibility of the reason that it have occured. Actually, Job had been put into very special situations by the negotiation between the God and satan. Considering the characters of which the God is willing to take care of their children and careless to what he had given, a purpose of test also cannot be the right reason of normal suffering occuring around people.

Where did you put your end of life on?

As always, first of all, ahead of my accuse or claim, what I have to remember is all the things around me came not from me but from the God. And my Life is not mine.Let's get back to the book of Job. He said.

"I came naked form my mother's womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord."

As soon as Jod heard his wealth was all gone away and all the children died, he stood up and tore this robe in grief. But, then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He knew that all he had came from God but he didn't know that why it had to happen. It's all same as our cases of difficulties. We don't know why. We are the one not enough to understand everything even small matter of fact. However, if the day comes, we would know brighlty in everything. Let us seize the hope and faith that he is good for us in spite of what sufferings may come.



 

2013.04.04 He will not fail you

오늘로, 지원한 두 곳의 학교로 부터 모두 불합격 통지를 받았다. 언어성적의 부족으로 어느정도 예상을 하고 있었지만, 막막해지는 건 어쩔 수가 없는 것같 다. 여기다가 이런 글을 남기는 것도 한숨나게 부끄러운 일이다. 더구나 미국에서는 체류가 가장 큰 문제이다. (한국에서는 체면이 문제지만..)언제까지 이렇게 3개월, 6개월 단위로 고민을 해야하는 지 모르겠다. 그러나 막막하다가도 말씀을 보면서 힘을 내려고 한다. 그리고 정말 내가 원하는 것을 하면서 살 수 있었으면 좋겠다고, 그 길로 인도해 달라고 내 주님께 기도한다.

 "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord of God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly. The various division of priest and Levites will serve in the Temple of God. Others with skilled of every kind will volunteer, and the officials and the entire nation are at your command." 1 Chronicles 28 :20-21 

 그리고 나는 학원수업을 다시 재수강하기로 결정했다. 이제 그곳을 6개월 동안다니면서 다시 영어시험을 치고, 9,10월에 있을 대학원 원서지원을 준비하게 된다. 살면서 처음으로하는 재수다. 무엇을 두려워하고 걱정하겠는가. 주어진 시간 반드시 찾을 것이다. 그리고 더 나아지고 싶다.

2013.04.03 in a confident manner

 The other day, I met one old man. He was the oldest guy I 've ever met at Kaplan. He looked like being in trouble with computer. Most students coming here first time have a same problem like the guy because all computer have password. So I let him know the password of computer. A couple of days later, I met him again in the morining at the same spot, computer lab. Today seemed to be his last day. He was doing his final survey, which evaluates his courses and teachers a while. He gave overally 3 points out of 5 score. Student Advisor standing next to him looked a bit embarassed. Generally, most students give either 4 or 5 because ,who can tell it honestly when one from the institute stands behind you, they just mean to leave a good impression to them. However, he was quite different from other students who have passed the same course. He meant to say his thought in mind just as it is. Actually it was so impressed from him. Although we are not a native speaker in America, we should say our opinion in a confident manner. But, we used to say simply or a same answer as most do because it was so bothersome to answer in English. Let's do not be afraid of speaking why. It can be applied on all the situation we encounter in our life, in Korea as well.

2013.03.30 preparation for movement

7월에 이사를 해야 하는 것을 대비해서 아파트 몇군데를 돌아다녔다. 마땅한 데를 찾지 못하다가 지금 사는 동네 옆 동네, 여기서는 한 1 mile 정도 떨어진 곳에 아파트를 발견했다. lease office에 사람이 있어서 들어가서 단지의 집구경을 좀 시켜달라고 했다.

May I see the house today? I am looking for one or two bed room apartment.
Now, I am living in Iroquois apartment 1 mile away from here in Naperville.
I came here while I am searching for right home around Naperville.
My lease is supose to be done in July this year. I am going to move in July.

그리고 이것집구경하면서 이것저것 물었다.
사실 이렇게 또박또박 물어봤으면 얼마나 좋았겠냐마는...
실제로 사용할 때는 왜 이렇게 순서가 뒤죽 박죽이 되는지..

1. What is the price range of one bedroom now?
2. Do you know how is the price of room going to be in July?
3. Which one do you use either gas or electrocity when I heat the room?
4. Are there available rooms now?
5. When should I notice you before I move in?
6. Do all the houses have capet or Do you have a home with hard wood floor?
7. I wonder if the first floor is safe at night or when it is empy.
8. Is there any extra payment beside monthly payment?
9. How do I pay my utility fee? Do I connect to city center in direct or the other way?

별 일없이 이것저것 잘 이야기 하고 나왔지만, 그렇게 한 번 하고나면 후회가 물밀듯이 밀려온다. 더 잘 말할 수 있었는데.. 다음번에 더 잘해야겠다.

2013.03.30 Audio Bible NLT version

I set up a new plan of reading English Bible with a loud voice in this year. For doing this, I choose the NLT version out of numerous English Bibles in terms of being expressed in quite readable English. When we play an audio bible in English, it runs 72 hours without pause. When we suppose one light book takes about 2 hour to read with audio, if I get it finished reading the whole chapters of both old and new testimony in bible, It is same as reading more than twenty books. Let's do it!

올해 목표는 영어성경 큰 목소리로 한 번 읽기.물론 빨리 마치면 또 읽어야지. ㅎㅎ
여러 버전을 시도한 결과 NLT 버전이 최근 현지인들이 사용하는 영어에 가장 가깝다는 결론을 내리고, 이걸로 1독 진행중. 아이패드용도 있으니 담번에 소개하고, 오늘은 PC버전 오디오 소개.영어 성경이 NIV 버전으로 쉬지 않고 재생하면 72시간이라고 한다. 보통 얇은 책 한권이 두시간남짓하니까 대략 스무권이상은 읽는 거겠지?

2013.03.29 the good friday

Opening today

It's the good Friday. I don't know why Americans call the day when Jesus Christ climbed on the cross the "good" Friday,but today is obviously the day when people who follow him celebrates the cross on which he was killed for us because of our sin.  Someone said the moment before dawn is the darkest. Yes, right. We all know through his word, bible the day after next he would come again. Therefore, don't be sad. Let's just remember he died for me.
